Sacerdotium Umbrae Mortis

A colorful study of a passage from the Masoretic text wherein are enumerated eleven tribes of Canaan, a land and people targeted by the God of the ancient Israelites for invasion and systematic extermination. As a result they symbolize in the context of these folk stories a sort of "Anti-Israel" in the sense that they are an "Un-Chosen" people, providing an adverse literary complement to the idea of ancient Israel as the "Chosen" people. In Sacerdotium Umbrae Mortis I search out and study various poetic and esoteric resonances from the original text and use this basic toolkit of synthetic mythemes to construct a fully coherent esoteric system, including rituals and ceremonial implements, and its own catalog of classes of spirits, with their rulers, who can be employed using classical techniques of Western mysticism, including those outlined in Black Magic Evocation of the Shem ha Mephorash.

"The book is a complete system of initiation and ascension in the grades of The Priesthood of the Shadows of Death, an order of predatory sorcerers who specialize in the practice of energy vampirism and in the necromantic conjuration of revenant phantom shades from the eleven hells of the Qliphoth.

The system is based on meticulous research into the eleven tribes of Canaan, enemies of the Right-Hand Path who esoterically represent eleven classes of hostile, predatory vampiric shadowforms who emanate from hells of black magick and the anti-world of death. Multiple levels of correspondences and esoteric enumerations are given as well as conjuration sigils and numerous seals and illustrations so that the initiate can ritually evoke not only these necromantic shades, but their ruling princes.

The grimoire, when studied and used properly, allows brave magicians to ascend in exotic spheres of consciousness and power by communion with and transmogrification by these venomous Lords of the Abyss. Included are various lists of attributes of vampirism, the four stages of initiation, four grades of mastery, tables of days, hours, and elemental and planetary correspondences suitable for infernal conjuration, and complete descriptions of the panoply, implements and rites of vampiric necromancy that comprise the order of Sacerdotium Umbrae Mortis."

Book review:

In Sacerdotium Umbrae Mortis (SUM) the author presents a graded system of initiation into a deathcult priesthood that utilizes Necromantic Shades as their source of power. Understanding of these Necromantic Shades can be found hidden in the passages of the Bible and using gematria to understand the relationship between the names of people and arrangements of certain passages relating predominantly to Canaan. The eleven sons of Canaan each are related to a particular genus of vampiric shade, and each of those genus' are related to a particular sphere in the Qliphoth. Laval connects it all to his Sethurian philosophy that all magick is inherently Satanic in general, with the name Sethurian relating to Sethur the divine angel sent to spy on the pagan and witchcraft abiding tribes of Canaan.

Of mention, before the book even gets into the details of the graded ritual system, it presents the authors revisions to the commonly accepted attributes and names of the Qliphothic system, based around a more modern understanding of Hebrew. These improvements/clarifications I would consider essential to anyone wishing to work with Qliphothic magick to it's fullest potency, and so this in itself makes this book a valuable one. Once the book pushes into the details of the core content of the text, we are quickly led down a trail of gematria correspondences derived from the passages Genesis 10:15 - 10:18, which describe Canaan, and his children's tribes. Without revealing anything about the core information of the text, the least I can say he makes a credible argument for the importance of the Canaanite tribes and their relationship to witchcraft and necromancy.

Once we get to the workings of the graded system, things quickly get extremely hands on. Don't go into this system unprepared as it's for the light hearted, the weak minded, or those who don't come into with adequate research. This is an advanced tome of black magick that draws from a large variety of sources, not only synthesizing the best elements from all of them, but also adding unique elements that the author has derived from his own practice. Everything has been meticulously organized and related to each other with a great deal of numerological and symbolical inter-connectivity, meaning if you feel like you want to adapt this information to your own system or modify this system with your own practices, makes sure you have an understanding of what every component actually means and how it relates to the others. Warnings aside, everything presented within the text to someone who is well versed in esoteric texts will feel familiar and onpoint, very workable indeed.

There are four stages of initiation, getting progressively more metaphysical as you move along the rites. They are categorized into the stages of Infection, Death, Descent, and Revenence. The first stage involves an incantation to numerous Qliphothic Dark energies inviting them to assist the calling of necromantic forces to rip apart your essence, which you must do willingly. The next stage involves sensory deprivation. The third communion with spirits. And the last magical travel. Once you have completed the stages of initiation the book brings you through a lengthy breakdown of the various implements, garbs, and seals associated with magickal working within the Sethurian system, as well as the appropriate steps of their consecration. Packed within the descriptions of the various tools of practices are some elaborate pictures of sigils and seals that will be important to your working, as well as extensive justifications for the gematria correspondences within the system. The Sethurian altar is described with equally thorough detail, giving you the final piece to a complete system of working physical magical materials.

Once you have crafted your working implements and altar, memorized your seals and sigils, fully understood the correspondences important to the Sethurian system of magic, and completed through the graded ritual initiation successfully, then you can consider yourself fully initiated into the inner workings of the system. Once initiated you can continue to work through a series of further grades, each one requiring more and more dedication from the practitioner. Making the backbone of the graded initiations is a great deal of study and memorization of the Sethurian system, as well as working with clearly detailed evocative conjuration which is meant to be used to access the eleven vampiric necromantic intelligences that are laid out in the final parts of the book. The ritual is straight forward and very familiar to anyone who's engaged in evocation before, just tailored to the author's specific's system.

The final main part of the book is a series of seals, descriptions, and tables relating to the eleven vampiric energies that act as the ruling patron spirits of the system. Containing planetary and elementary, and gematria correspondences, as well as description of the demon's functions, his ruling exarch, where to face in the conjuration circle when interacting with them, any sort of offerings required/beneficial to summoning them, as well as general information on how to evoke or revoke the entity, you won't find much missing except what can only be gleaned through personal experience with the entities themselves; very thorough, and accurate from my experimentation with the system. Completing the book is a series of appendices which include the planetary and elemental calendar the Sethurian system is based upon (for months, days, and hours), Hebrew, Greek, Greek-Theban, Ulian, and Luciferian gematria's (with ciphers), and an extensive and well laid out bibliography so you can get the full dig on what research went into composing this system.

Overall, the system is not one to be taken without having some experience with evocation, preferably working with Qliphothic energies already. The entities contained within are strong, and have dark malevolent sides. Know what you're getting into, and prepare for complete ego dissolution, and questioning of all of your own morals and ideals, as your progress through the system. If you are worthy though, the rewards are great.

The Infidel Network book review of "Sacerdotium Umbrae Mortis".

A review of the book posted on a message board:

The book and current it works from is directly inline with the vampiric school of energy manipulation and necromancy. It is different and opposite of GT types of evocation in regards to protection, which there is really none present, not even banishing. To be initiated into the priesthood you must first infect yourself with a parasitic shade which you feed with your own blood, this being said I would definitely not recommend this work to any beginners as mental psychosis and obsession could manifest. There are other initiation rites that must be preformed, then there are separate rites to advance through the four grades of priesthood. There are 11 classes of spirits drawn up being based on the tribes of Canaan each presided over by a ruling exarch. G. D. Laval shows a great understanding of Hebrew and has written a very well done review of the Qliphoth with some corrections to spelling and translations. Ritual implements are not that difficult to acquire, cemetery dirt, the usual daggers, chalice, bell, candle holders, a stake replacing the traditional wand, inscribed with some power names and words. Later on in the system it goes into the creation of some jewelry doesn't seem too extravagant, ritual garb etc, that section doesn't seem to me to be all that strict I'm sure one could work out substitutions if needed. The final grade consists of creation of a bound guardian spirit/shade creation housed in a spirit vessel you create, this involves the procuring of some human bones, reminds me slightly of some of the rites practiced in Palo by Mayombero and some other necromantic practices involving binding spirits.

The spirits are evoked via mantra, incense specific to each class and exarch of the 11 demon tribes is burned, there are tables for times and days for them, specific mantras to be repeated, the spirits are manifested via scrying, it is a rather solid system that I have achieved success with.
I think anyone who actively practices demonic, necromantic, Qliphothic or is involved in the vampiric magic current could get some use out of it even if they don't choose to advance through the priesthood. The rites of conjuration is the foundational ceremony of the entire work. That is to say the priest needs to have acquired and consecrated all the specific tools of the craft and worked through the sacraments present within the book. That being said to reach the first step in priesthood, the grade of Jeriah, you must evoke a specter from each of the 9 classes of vampiric death shades. You then are taught of their specific virtues and establish a working relationship where you are able to call upon them in the future. Later on in the priesthood when your power is greater you are required to conjure forth the kings of the tribes from their qliphothic thrones. I don't believe that any other means outside of the practices written would produce satisfactory results when conjuring as these kings and the shades under them are completely tied into the praxis of the priesthood and it's connections within its Qliphoth current. The ritual isn't to overwhelming considering it is for a modern LHP practice, ritual garb is worn, 12 hour fasting, bathe, specific circle of conjuration is drawn upon the floor, chalice filled Incense and candles lot then you begin. There is an opening of the gate ritual then the invocations and mantras are repeated until the spirits are evoked present within the scrying mirror, no full physical manifestations are achieved. After your discourse with the spirit there is a revocation of the spirits back to the qliphothic hell from which it came via provided words of power. Then there is a closing of the gate ritual and you are finished. It is a very involved system that is very interconnected and everything builds off another concept presented earlier in the workings. This is a really great book that will give you all the tools and information that you need to self initiate and work within this specific current.
